Gachagua alleges Ruto is reviving the banned Mungiki sect, wants ICC to take note

Former DP Rigathi Gachagua is alleging that President Ruto’s government is sponsoring the revival of the brutal Mungiki sect to unleash against opponents.

Gachagua said he has instructed his allied members of parliament led by Mukurweini MP John Kaguchia to bring together astute lawyers who will write to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over the issue.

He said the overnment for sponsoring a criminal gang in the country to terrorist and commit crimes against humanity.

Gachagua has alleged that the criminal gang that in the past has been a thorn in the flesh of the mountain region people, has been reactivated by the government machinery to cause mayhem and chaos.

He is therefore calling for the International Criminal Court to commence investigations immediately and bring to book the perpetrators of the crimes against humanity.

He was speaking at The Guardian Angels Tetu Catholic Church in Nyeri County during the Sunday morning Church Service.

Gachagua gave examples of some of the crimes that the gang have committed in the past saying that in the year 2009, the criminals invaded a village in Nyeri County and butchered 29 people before raping women and commiting other crimes.

It took the intervention of then Minister for Interior the late John Michuki to neutralize their existence.

He now says that the gangs are regrouping and they have already started extorting residents of the region with brutal efficiency.

The former DP has also faulted the National Police Service for aiding the existence and the reactivation of the gang instead of protecting Kenyans against the vices including Illicit brew.

He has asked the President to be vigilant and not fall into the prey of the gang as he will be liable for any harm that they will cause.

On the issue of Abductions, Gachagua has emphathised with the families of the abductees that have found their loved ones bodies dumped in various places after being killed.

He also criticised the government for their continued stand on opposition saying that the young men could not have abducted themselves and later killed themselves.

The former DP was accompanied by his spouse Pst. Dorcas, leaders including Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, Mukurweini Mp John Kaguchia, former Nyeri town Mp Ngunjiri Wambugu, members of county assembly led by speaker James Gichuhi among other leaders.
