Mbuthia Irungu wins Captain Henry Kinyua’s Prize golf tournament at Thika Greens Golf Resort

A large field of 250 golfers graced this year’s Captain Henry Kinyua’s Prize golf tournament at the picturesque Thika Greens Golf Resort on Saturday where Mbuthia Irungu emerged the overall winner.

Irungu playing off handicap 26 returned a score of 43 Stableford points to take the top prize home with Henry Wanyama playing off handicap 6 was the gross winner with 74 gross points in a Par 73 course.

The man winner prize went to Willy Gikonyo playing off handicap 26 and scoring 42 points and man runners up went to Thika Greens Golf Resort vice-captain Hamisi Mburu playing off handicap 18 with 42 points.

Lady winner was Stella Mwende with 42 points with a handicap of 28 and Lady Runners-up trophy went to Liz Wanjiru with 41 points with a handicap of 32.

Other prizes included member man winner that went to Dr A Shitseswa with 42 points with a handicap of 17 and the member lady winner went to Betty Mutua playing off at handicap 22 with 42 points.

Guest winner man prize went to Leon Moffat handicap 27 with 40 points and the guest lady winner went to Wanjiru Gatheca with 38 points playing off handicap 34.

The subsidiary man winner prize went to Kefa Ngoiri playing off handicap 34 with 41 points and the subsidiary lady winner went to Lillian Kanyita with 45 points playing at handicap 43 while sponsor winner went to Njau Ng’ang’a with 36 points playing off handicap 18.

Henry Wanyama took the prize for the longest drive man while Elidy Wangeci took the prize for the longest lady and nearest to the pin man went to Nawfal Cockar and Carol Kibanya took home the prize for nearest to the pin lady while the best effort went to Nancy Anne Abuki with 16 points playing off handicap 54.

The tournament that drew a record number of golfers in the initiative of the club’s Captain Henry Kinyua and attracted many sponsors among them Inchcape, M-Vall, Bayer, Kingdom Bank, Changan Motors, Best Budget ICT Solutions, Faytech Solutions and Kilimo News.
