Moses Kuria now says DP Ruto prefers a weak running mate from Mt Kenya who cannot question him

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria now claims that the Deputy President William Ruto prefers a weak running mate from Mt Kenya who cannot question him but instead sing praises.

Ruling himself a possible running mate for Ruto in 2022 presidential elections, Kuria said it was clear that the DP was shopping for a running mate who would join ‘the DP’s praise and worship choir’ and not a strong person with strong opinions.

“He is looking for a weak candidates not me, or Martha Karua or Kabando wa Kabando. He is looking for a running mate who cannot question him or present issues for Mt Kenya,’’ said Kuria.

Kuria said a person of his caliber who would demand for issues affecting Mt Kenya like coffee and tea farming to be addressed is unwanted.

He said even though he still supports Ruto’s candidature, he would not make the mistake to fold his party and join Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) as the DP has demanded.

The DP has been pushing Kuria to fold up his party Chama Cha Kazi together with Mwangi Kiunjuri of The Service Party (TSP) but they have all declined.

Last week, Kuria blasted Ruto said the DP wants to take Kenya back to the dark days of Kanu single party rule which he said should not be allowed to happen.

On Tuesday, Kuria repeated that he would not be vying for any seat in 2022 but instead would use the time in between to build his party and ensure it’s as many elected leaders as possible.

Most of the presidential candidates are shopping for their running mates from Mt Kenya with the hope that the many votes in the region will swing to their advantages.
