Kanu chairman Gideon Moi meets 60 Kiambu MCAs, in a new political strategy

KANU chairman and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has met over 60 Members of County Assembly (MCAs) from Kiambu sparking speculations on his latest political move.

Moi said Kanu as a party has resolved to deepen engagements with county assemblies adding that Kenya’s democracy recognizes Members of County Assembly as critical players in defending and promoting the objects of Devolution.

As such MCAs deserve a fair chance to participate in our governance processes, he added.
“As a party, we have resolved to deepen our engagements with County Assemblies across the country to ensure accountable exercise of power at the grassroots for maximum socioeconomic benefits for our people,” said Moi.

The 60 MCAs led by the Speaker Hon. Stephen Ndichu, Deputy Speaker Hon. Philip Mubea and former Majority Leader Hon. Anthony Ikonya.

He said similar consultative engagements will be held across the country, in what appears like a new strategy to introduce himself to MCAs across the country.

The meeting with MCAs has left pundits asking themselves what Moi’s strategy was and the end game.

Political activities have heightened in recent times as the country moves towards the 2022 general elections in less than 14 months.
