Anti Ruto forces in Mt Kenya planning a big meeting in Limuru to wrestle the region from his grip

Opposition leaders from Mt Kenya are burning the midnight oil to plan how to wrestle the region from the grip of President Ruto as the 2027 general election beckons.

Hoping to capitalise on the political unrest in the region occasioned by the high cost of living and increased taxation, the anti-Ruto forces are planning a major meeting in Limuru where they hope a new political alignment could ignite.

Dubbed the Limuru 3, the meeting being organised by among others embattled Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni and Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, the leaders want to create a forum where disgruntled voices from the Mt Kenya region can express themselves.

A poster for Limuru 3 says the purpose of the meeting is to cement unity of the region, address the challenges facing the people and come up with solutions.

“Come we discuss leadership. prosperity and unity. Our unity of purpose, challenges facing our people and solutions to those challenges,” said the poster.

Kioni says the meeting is open to every person from Mt Kenya region including those in Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

He says the meeting will discuss pertinet issues facing residents of Mt Kenya region from the farmers, traders, the youth and women.

Kioni says the current policies and especially the taxation regime has greatly impacted the residents of Mt Kenya region and are now struggling to make ends meet. He said a such they need a forum to come discuss their afflictions and how to get out of it.
