Big win for KENAFF as Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi promises to work with them

Kenya National Farmers Federation (KENAFF) scored a big win after it received support from Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi who pledged to work with the organisation.

Linturi said KENAFF which boasts of 2 million members in all the 47 counties will be key in the government’s plans to empower farmers in a bid to improve food production in the country.

He said the consultative meeting he held at Kilimo House was in line with the government’s desire to continue with plans to improve the welfare of farmers across the country.

“The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development is determined to enhance the country’s food security by creating an enabling environment for agricultural development in order to improve productivity and output in the agricultural sector,” he said.

On his part the KENAFF CEO Mwenda M’Mailutha said it was always their desire to forge a close working relationship with the Government of Kenya Kwanza saying President Ruto had placed the interests of farmers first.

He said as an organization with membership across the 47 counties has a credible data base of close to two million farmers and are ready to help the government in its programs aimed at helping the farmers.

“We have a credible data base of farmers, and we can provide that last mile that the government so dearly needs to be able to reach all farmers in the all the 47 counties,” said M’Mailutha.

He added that Linturi had also agreed to be the Chief Guest of KENAFF during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held at the Farmers Conference Centre in Thogoto, Kikuyu on Friday December 2, 2022.

After hosting KENAFF, Linturi also hosted Rockefeller Foundation Managing Director William Asiko and Mehrdad Ehsani who paid him a courtesy call.

He said the foundation is keen to partner with the Government in areas of interest as we strive to end food insecurity in the country.
