Hotels count huge losses as government anti-covid-19 measures bite.

The hospitality industry is reeling under heavy losses a day after strict Covid-19 measures were announced by President Uhuru in a bid to control the spread of the deadly virus.
A spot check by News Today painted a gloomy picture as the establishments remained deserted with virtually no patrons. The restaurants were empty and the parking lots clear.
The minimal activity was limited to eateries that serve food where we found few customers buying take-away meals.
Some ate from their cars since the new rules state that no food or drinks should be served within restaurants.
Bars were the most hit as the sale of alcohol has been outlawed with business owners counting huge loses. Newly opened joints like Quiver on Thika road looked ghostly with no soul at sight apart from a few dejected waiters in the kitchen.
Operators said they had been forced to close send home thousands of workers who have now been rendered jobless.
President Uhuru on Friday announced new and stringent measures to curb the spread of corona virus that has been killing nearly ten people daily with hundreds of infections.
The President said Nairobi accounted to 60 per cent of infections and that out of every ten Nairobians seven were testing positive for the deadly virus.
In the last two weeks prominent Kenyans have been among the victims to succumb to the disease. They included Kericho deputy governor, three journalists and businessmen.
