Njuri Ncheke elders wants Meru Governor to resolve differences with MCAs and MPs urgently

By HARRIET MUGO

Revered Njuri Ncheke elders from Meru and Tharaka Nithi counties, have given Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza a 14-day ultimatum to resolve differences with MCAs and MPs

They noted that Meru County is suffering from a leadership conflict between Governor Kawira Mwangaza and members of the County Assembly.

The elders now want a cease fire to allow the provision of services to residents.

The general secretary of the Njuri Ncheke group, Josphat Murangiri, said that failure to resolve the differences will force them to take action to adhere to the traditions and customs of the group.

They have said that the dispute between Mwangaza and MCAs has brought shame to the Meru community and has caused a delay in the provision of services to the residents.

Tension is high after MCAs reject seven appointees who were recommended to take senior positions in the county governmnet.

Mwangaza made changes and gave six positions instead of ten to senior officials who will serve in his government following the action of ward representatives.
