Acting Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow, has made changes in the DCI investigation department, appointing Nicholas Kamwende as the deputy director.
Kamwende who was the director of planning in the intelligence department, takes over from Hamisi Massa who has gone on retirement leave.
The appointment comes a few hours after the swearing in of the new director of the intelligence department, Amin Mohammed Ibrahim.
Deputy Inspector General John Gachomo, has been transferred to the internal affairs unit in the police service to the nation, a position that was held by Amin.
In other changes, Deputy Inspector General Eliud Kipkoech Lagat, is now the director of the investigative unit and took over from John Gachomo who has taken the post held by Mohamed Amin in the internal affairs unit.
Johnstone Kola is now the director of the counter-terrorism unit and took over from Martin Otieno Omumbo who has been transferred to the intelligence department.
Paul Mumo has been taken to the headquarters of the national police service in the Vigilance building in Nairobi.
Acting Inspector General has said that the changes will be implemented immediately.
