A woman who escaped death narrowly in Kuresoi in the Rift Valley during the 2007/08 post-election was hit by another tragedy after marauding bandits razed down her home in Ol Moran in Laikipia where she had settled as an internally displaced person (IDP).
The woman who was weeping hysterically cried out to President Uhuru Kenyatta to come to her rescue saying she had no idea where the rest of her family was following the attack in the ongoing reign of terror by bandits in Laikipia.
She said when the attack occurred she fainted and collapsed and it was not until she regained consciousness that she found her home reduced to ashes.
She cried out loudly wondering where she will go next after the second attack left her with nothing and her children missing.
The woman has become the sad symbol of anguish and the terror being unleashed on defenseless people who are now leaving Ol Moran to become IDPs, some for the second time.
And as the bandits continue to strike at will, the County Government of Laikipia through the Governor Ndiritu Muriithi says efforts are being made to restore peace and order in the troubled Ol Moran ward.
He announced that a new district called Kirima had been created and will be made up of Ng’arua, Sipili and Ol Moran wards and the headquarters will be at Ol Moran.
Ndiritu in a statement said the Ol Moran police station will be upgraded to a police division while Survey, Luoniek and Nagum police posts will be upgraded to police station.
He said both the county and national governments will help reconstruct the houses destroyed by the attackers and that the survivors are being assisted with food.
