Uhuru Kenyatta expresses deep sadness after the death of 17 pupils in a gory Nyeri school fire

President (Rtd) Uhuru Kenyatta has expressed his deepest condolences to the families, friends, and entire community of Hillside Endarasha Academy in Kieni, Nyeri County, following a devastating fire that claimed the lives of 17 innocent pupils and left several others injured.

“The loss of young lives, full of potential and hope for the future, is a pain that cannot be fully described. My heart goes out to the families who lost their children and the school community deeply affected by this tragedy of unimaginable magnitude. May God give you the strength, comfort, and peace you need as you cope with this loss,” said Mr. Kenyatta.

The former President also wished for a swift recovery for all the injured children, praying for God’s healing and strength as they recover physically and emotionally from this traumatic event.

The Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who is on his way to Endarasha to comfort the parents and the school community said he learnt with deep sadness the tragic death of pupils of Hillside Endarasha Academy in the fire incident.

“We join the families, the school and the rest of the country in mourning these young, departed souls. We pray for a quick recovery of the survivors of this inferno. May God Grant the families the fortitude to bear the loss,” said Gachagua.

He asked schools to enforce safety and security measures as outlined by the Ministry of Education and other agencies to avert such incidences.

Others who sent their condolences are President Ruto and his handshake partner Raila Odinga. They are both in China attending an African Conference with the Chinese President. Education CS who was part of the entourage has been sent home back home to come and deal with the tragedy.

Nightmarish school fire broke out at dawn today at the Academy in Nyeri county that killed 17 pupils and 14 others sustained serious burns in tragedy that has shocked the entire nation.
