MP Rigathi Gachagua ejected out of Karatina town by angry residents, blames Mungiki

Embattled Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua was ejected out of Karatina town by angry constituents and immediately blamed the county commissioner and Mungiki sect followers for the humiliation.

Gachagua whose bodyguards were forced to fire in the air to protect him from the angry Karatina traders was accused of abandoning the constituency and disparaging President Uhuru’s government.

The traders who said they supported Uhuru and his government told Gachagua to go back to Kiambaa – where he was leading the United Democratic Alliance (UDA’s) by-election campaigns against the Jubilee Party candidate Kariri Njama.

UDA is fronted by the Deputy President William Ruto who has since fallen out with his boss President Uhuru for engaging in early campaigns, opposing the handshake and leading a Jubilee rebellion against the President.

After he was whisked away to safety by his body guards and aides, Gachagua wrote a lengthy post on his social media pages where he confirmed the incident and blamed it on the outlawed Mungiki sect and the county commissioner.

He said he had reported about a Mungiki sect leader to the police and was getting concerned why no action was being taken adding that he would resist the revival of the Mungiki sect.

Gachagua however did not provide any proof of his allegations that have also angered the residents of Mathira who said their MP had a tendency of branding every person he disagrees with as a Mungiki follower.

The residents accused Gachagua of abandoning the constituency and concentrating with UDA politics where he was angling to be appointed the running to Ruto in the forthcoming general elections.

Mathira is a hotbed of politics in Nyeri County where deadly political confrontations that at times result to deaths are witnessed every electioneering period.
