Total Kenya unveils a service station fully powered by solar energy

Total Kenya – an energy producing and marketing company has launched a service station on Limuru road that will be fully powered by solar energy.

The company announced that it was becoming a broad energy company committed to producing and providing energies that are more affordable, reliable and clean.

Speaking at the launch, the chairman of Total Kenya board Jean-Philippe Torres said the service station was the first in Kenya to exclusively use solar energy.

“The station is fully solarized in line with Total Energies group’s ambition to reach carbon neutrality by 2050,’’ said Torres.

He said another first for the company was the launch of the first mobility concept Bonjour Shop at the service station.

“We are becoming a broad energy company committed to producing and providing energies that are ever more affordable, reliable and clean,’’ he said.

Total Kenya joins several other companies that are moving away from hydro-electric power to more renewable and clean solar energy.

The cost of hydro-electric power in Kenya has also been high forcing companies to seek cheaper and cleaner alternatives.
