Ousted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua says there have been two attempts to kill him by poisoning

Former DP Gachagua says the impeachment motion was crafted after two attempts to assassinate him through poisoning failed. Says should anything happen to him President Ruto is to blame. Says his former friend has become brutal, vicious and cruel.

Fresh from hospital where he was admitted since Thursday evening, impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made explosive statements that State agents have made two unsuccessful attempts to kill him.

The claims are bound to shake the already poisoned political atmosphere in the country and further draw more sympathy for Gachagua who was impeached as he fought for his life in hospital.

And with a vicious attack of his estranged boss President Ruto, Rigathi said it was unbelievable how his once close friend had turned out to be a vicious, brutal and cruel person, warning that if anything happens to him Kenyans should blame Ruto.

For a man who was used to stately travel with high end vehicles and police outriders and heavy elite security protection, Gachagua left Karen hospital in a humble 2.0L Toyota Rav4 car chauffeured by his son with his spouse Pastor Dorcas opening the door him and taking the back seat.

It was a sight to behold as the high riding Gachagua was driven away in a single-car convoy and not to the official Deputy President residence, but to his private residence in Karen.

On the attempted murder, Gachagua said the first incident happened in Kisumu where he claimed that NIS agents accessed his room, bugged it and laced his food with poison. He said they were able to detect the breach and escaped the murder plot but it happened again in Nyeri during a meeting with elders.

“On 30th of August, in Kisumu undercover security agents entered my room in Kisumu and bugged it. And one of them tried to poison my food. But we detected it and we were able to escape the scheme. I was supposed to be killed through poisoning,” said Gachagua.

He said he reported the Nyeri incident and asked the NIS officers attached to him to leave because he no longer felt safe with them around.

“On the 3rd of September in Nyeri, another team from the National Intelligence Service came to Nyeri and tried to poison food that was meant for me and Kikuyu Council of Elders. I did report this matter to the National Intelligence Service and the officers who were assigned to me I asked them to leave because I felt I was not safe,” said Gachagua.

Rumors about his attempted poisoning and his decision not to eat and drink anything with State House and around State officials have been doing rounds but with his statement, they have been confirmed to be true.

Gachagua cried foul saying he was shocked at just how his erstwhile friend turned enemy number one had become so cruel, vicious and brutal.

He said his security was withdrawn while he was admitted in hospital and was left with no one to take care of him and that security guards at his rural home in Mathira had also been withdrawn.
