Kufa Dereva, Kufa Makanga chants as chaotic scenes disrupt public participation on DP Gachagua impeachment across Mt Kenya

Chants of Kufa Makanga Kufa Dereva rent the air as chaotic scenes marred the public participation on the motion to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua tabled in Parliament on Tuesday.

Hundreds of supporters of DP Gachagua thronged the venues for public participation as announced by Parliament and caused chaos and commotion insisting that, should the DP be fired even the President should also be fired hence the chants of – kufa makanga, kufa dereva.

DP Gachagua’s supporters allege a plot to rig the process with sole purpose of pushing him out of government so that a weak person who cannot question the President is imposed on them.

They say they are disappointed that barely two years after Ruto and Gachagua took power no development has taken place and that the cost of living continues to rise and that now the government was involved only in sideshows instead of getting down to work.

Chaotic scenes were recorded in Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Laikipia and Nakuru counties as well other parts of the Mt Kenya region where DP Gachagua is currently enjoying fanatical following.

The DP on his part has kept mum but in previous interviews vowed not resign preferring to fight on a face his accusers.

He says the allegations levelled against him are all false and was just an excuse to spoil his name because he has stood firm in defense of the people of Mt Kenya region.
