Kenyans thrown into a panic after five cases of the deadly Indian Covid-19 disease variant are reported

An announcement by the Ministry of Health (MOH) that the deadly coronavirus strain that has wrecked havoc in India was now in the country has left Kenyans a worried lot.

Scared Kenyans are now calling on their fellow citizens to strictly follow the health protocols issued  by the government after witnessing what happened in India.

Horrific images coming out of India sent shock waves across the globe as hundreds of thousands of people succumbed to the disease, while millions of others were infected.

The Asian nation has seen vast parts of their towns turned into crematoriums where fires never go out, with the death rate averaging 3,000 people daily in the recent past.

World leaders led by America have rushed in to help India as the sheer scale of devastation over stretched the health systems became evident.

There have also been large queues at oxygen refilling stations as relatives collect the life saving commodity.

In Kenya, the cases were confirmed in Kisumu by the Director General of Health Dr Patrick Amoth who called for more vigilance.

The announcement has dampened the spirits coming only days after President Uhuru relaxed some of the disease containment measures.

The most significant was the removal of roadblocks from the five disease affected counties much to the relief of Kenyans.
