Famous former police boss Kingori Mwangi is dead

Former police boss King’ori Mwangi has died while undergoing treatment, according to his family.

Mwangi, who retired from the public service in 2020, had a distinguished and checkered career at the National Police Service.

He served as a police chief in Nairobi, Coast and Western regions, as well as a Commandant of the Kenya Police College Kiganjo.

Mwangi also worked at the Foreign Affairs Ministry before his retirement.

He lived a private life after leaving the police force, the ailment that caused his death is yet to be disclosed.

Mwangi is best remembered during the Kibaki regime when former first lady the late Lucy Kibaki raided the Nation Centre at midnight.

Mwangi then the Nairobi boss was at a loss what to do and could only watch as the first lady delivered an angry tirade to the shocked Nation Media staff.

The visibly tired police boss could was captured dozing off during the incident that shocked the entire country.
