Major boost for Nairobi governor aspirant Agnes Kagure as popular musician compose song ahead of elections

Prominent Nairobi business woman and city’s gubernatorial candidate Agnes Kagure has gotten a major boost in her bid after popular musician Ben Githae composed a song to drum up support among city residents

The new hit dubbed ‘Kagure Ndani Ndani to City Hall’ is meant to bolster Kagure’s campaigns for the city’s senior most post ahead of the August 9 general election.

It was a major win for Kagure to draft Githae to her side as he is reputed to compose block-buster songs that propel candidates to emphatic wins including President Uhuru Kenyatta – whose ‘tano tena” re-election song still rings in Kenyans’ minds.

During the meeting at Kagure’s private Nairobi office, she reiterated her resolve and determination to capture the coveted seat and deliver Nairobians from the bondage of poor service delivery.

“Feeling energized after an early morning practice of ‘Kagure Ndani Ndani to City Hall’ with Shiru wa GP, Ben Githae, Sir James and my friends. Our journey to a better Nairobi is unstoppable,” Kagure revealed.

Githae said:“We shall go around drumming up support for Kagure and a number of artistes are also part of the plan to ensure she becomes the next Nairobi governor,” Githae said about the song that is set to rule the airwaves in the upcoming campaigns.

Githae is one of the few artistes who were supporting the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), that, after having sung Jubilee into power.

Kagure has declared her interest in running for the Nairobi governor position to succeed Governor Ann Kananu in next year’s elections but has not officially launched her bid in Nairobi.

The businesswoman, who is also a well-known philanthropist in Nairobi, was the first woman to throw her hat in the ring in the battle.

Political pundits have painted the picture of her as a leader who has a vision for the city and who intends to transform every facet in the county for the benefit of Nairobi residents.

“With good leadership at the top, Nairobi can accommodate and support all our business ideas; it can be the land of opportunities that it was meant to be. Let us continue to engage, and together, make it happen,” she said recently when she met a section of Nairobi recently.

Over the past few months she has embarked on a well-organized campaign strategy to woo various groups in the city to support her bid. She is promising to transform the city to realize its potential as the region’s business hub as well as increase the use of ICT in service delivery.

Most groups supporting Kagure’s bid say she is the only one who helped them financially during the difficult times of the COVID-19 period, which saw many women in informal settlements lose their sources of income due to government restrictions put in place.

Kagure believes she represents sober leadership and is a symbol of hope for Nairobi which has over the past eight years witnessed a cycle of theatrics at the expense of service delivery.
