Mt Kenya business tycoons now hosts One Kenya Alliance (OKA) to a luncheon at Safari Park Hotel

A week after hosting ODM leader Raila Odinga to a luncheon at Nairobi’s Safari Park Hotel, Mt Kenya business tycoons will on Thursday offer the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) a similar treat.

Grouped under the Mount Kenya Foundation (MKF), the business moguls will listen to OKA that brings together senior politicians among them Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula.

According to an invite signed by the MKF vice-chairman Titus Ibui, the luncheon will start at 12 noon on Thursday October 7, 2021 followed by deliberations thereafter.

He said the consultations will centre on the Mt Kenya region’s stake in the next government should OKA form it and how the region’s interests will be taken into account and protected.

“Your input in the consultations towards Mount Kenya region’s position and stake in the next government will be greatly appreciated,” said Ibui.

During the earlier meeting with Raila, MKF wanted to know how he will address issues of Mt Kenya region key among them a fair distribution of resources and a fair representation, should he ascend to the highest office in the land.

They also wanted Raila to commit to continue with the development momentum that President Uhuru has set for the region in exchange for political support.

MKF chairman Peter Munga told Raila that the region was interested in partners who would accelerate development and not just empty sloganeering aimed at hoodwinking the people for the sake of votes.

Raila said he understands the needs of the region and said the infrastructural development being witnessed in the region and the entire country was designed when he was Roads minister under retired President Kibaki.

He said it was because of President Kibaki’s support that it was possible to clear road reserves and build the Thika Super Highway and the by-passes that have greatly eased connectivity in the city.

MKF comprises who is who in Mt Kenya and while the group is not active politically, it has great influence in the region and has a big capacity to raise campaign funds.

It is chaired by Peter Munga, the founder of Equity Bank, other include former Kenya Revenue Authority Commissioner General Michael Waweru and former Kenya Airports Authority chairman George Muhoho.
