BBI co-chair Dennis Waweru celebrates Mt Kenya unity, says elders have set a good example

Former Dagoretti South MP and BBI co-chair Dennis Waweru has praised the two Kikuyu elders’ groups for uniting and appointing a new patron – as was witnessed in Nyeri on Saturday.

Waweru said the example set by elders means that the drive for Mt Kenya unity is bearing fruits and gaining the required momentum ahead of the 2022 general elections.

He said efforts to unite the region will continue until the region speaks in one voice so that the large votes could make an impact.

Waweru said it is only when the region speaks in one voice that they are able to pursue and achieve their interests.

He said the Handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga was meant to unite the entire country adding that the benefits of that unity are visible to everyone.

Waweru who is the co-chair of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) said even though the courts stopped the process a way must be found to protect the gains that were contained in the document.

He criticized politicians from Mt Kenya who were fighting BBI and who are now crying foul that the region has lost greatly with its collapse.

Waweru said the region will only support a presidential candidate who will commit to secure the gains that were contained in the BBI.
