Drama as bitter rivals PS Kibicho and Woman Rep Wangui Ngirici bury the hatchet and pledge to work together

In a dramatic turn of events bitter rivals Internal Security PS and Kirinyaga County MP Wangui Ngirici shared a podium where they buried the hatchet and pledged to work together for the interests of Kirinyaga.

Embattled Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru reacted immediately and turned to social media to throw shade to the sensational developments that have caused a political stir in the county.

Even though Kibicho and Ngirici said they were both brought together by the need to ensure the Mashujaa Day celebrations to be held in Mwea were successful, their statements on the podium left little doubt their meeting was merely incidental.

Kibicho publicly said he would not go for the gubernatorial seat that Wangui is eyeing and while addressing her husband Andrew Ngirici who was also on the podium.

And in what appeared like sealing the deal, Kibicho and Ngirici shook hands in handshake that was demanded by the youths.

The thousands of youths present cheered with approval and urged Kibicho to instead go for the Senatorial seat.

Kibicho responded by saying that he already has a job given to him by President Uhuru Kenyatta and since it was not over, he would continue offering his services of providing security until the last day.

He said that because he wanted to pre-empt rumors, he wanted to make it clear that he had not defected to United Democratic Alliance (UDA) associated with the Deputy President William Ruto.

Kibicho also said he had not gone there to convince Wangui to abandon UDA and to join President Uhuru’s camp adding that they had decided to work together to secure the interests of Kirinyaga.

Waiguru appeared to have the biggest loser in the new arrangement after it emerged that Covid -19 vaccines that people had been promised were not available.

One of the condition set for Kirinyaga to host Mashujaa Day celebrations next month was to ensure that all those attending the celebrations were vaccinated.

The committee organizing the celebrations chaired by the County Commissioner Jim Njoka has called for accelerated vaccination of the people but the County Government has been blamed for the slow roll out.

Waiguru has also in the past one week been lamenting about what she called harassment by state organs especially after she was called to record a statement by the EACC on Wednesday over an alleged corruption.

She is alleging that she is being targeted after she said she was reviewing her political stand and even claimed that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) was not popular in Mt Kenya region.
