A mega pool game tournament code-named Krekit Festival will take place on Saturday at the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) Comesa Grounds where a jackpot of Ksh 350,000/- is up for grabs.
The unique tournament sponsored by Base Yetu and Lipa Likes brands follows a special format and rules where a trick shot that pots the black ball wins a chance to contest the grand prize.
The organizer and Chief Executive Officer of Base Yetu and Lipa Likes Nick Mararo says the event will combine both the pool game tournament and top-notch entertainment featuring top artistes from Kenya. He said the tournament will also have the underlying theme of prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
He said he tinkered with rules so that the game can attract more people, because in the past only a particular elite players would win most of the time. It was for that reason that he thought of an innovation that would ensure even people with limited experience could play and enjoy the game.
Mararo said because pool game attracts young people, he thought it was important to include messages that create awareness on the need to prevent Gender-Based Violence.
