Jubilee MPs campaigning for opposition UDA candidate in Kiambaa asked to resign

Jubilee members of Parliament campaigning for the opposition United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate have been challenged to resign from their seats.

Building Bridges Initiate (BBI) co-chair Dennis Waweru said there was a high level of hypocrisy for MPs elected on Jubilee to campaign for the UDA candidate yet they continue to cling to their seats in Parliament.

Waweru said the political party for Mt Kenya remains Jubilee Party and that President Uhuru Kenyatta is the leader and spokesperson for the region.

“Mt Kenya Party is Jubilee, Our King is His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta, They should resign from Jubilee Party before lecturing you (Kiambaa residents) to vote for UDA,” said Waweru.

He made the remarks during campaigns for the Jubilee’s Kiambaa candidate Kariri Njama, where paid glowing tribute to Njama describing him as a good  and decent man with a clean track record , unlike his opponents.

Waweru said for Njama, one can point out things he has done for Kiambaa constituents from scholarships, getting jobs opportunities for Kiambaa youths, supporting small businesses to charity with his little resources.

Waweru asked Kiambaa residents not to gamble with their  votes adding that Juja residents are already regretting only a few weeks after the by-election.

He cautioned them against making a similar mistake urging them to turn up, mobilise and vote for Njama.

Waweru revealed that President Uhuru has promised to come to Kiambaa to thank the people once they elect Njama – the Jubilee candidate.

“Turn up, mobilise all your friends and parents on Thursday, President Uhuru Kenyatta has promised to come to Kiambaa to thank you once you elect Njama,” said Waweru.

The Kiambaa by-election will be held on Thursday next week and fell vacant following the death of former MP Paul Koinange.
