Famous Kikuyu Benga Musician Kamande Wakioi recovering after an eye surgery

Kamande Wakioi’s fans countrywide send goodwill messages to the witty veteran musician known to belt out popular Kikuyu language tunes

Popular Kikuyu Benga music maestro Kamande Wakioi is recovering well after undergoing an eye surgery following an injury sustained in a road accident.

Even though expected for yet another minor surgery on the same eye, an upbeat Kamande said he is recovering well and is on road to full recovery.

He said the operation was to remove a blood clot that occurred in the eye after it was injured by a piece of glass that got lodged in following a head-on-collision between the car he was driving and a matatu at Githurai 44, Roysambu, Nairobi.

Kamande said after the accident a piece of glass from the shattered windshield got lodged in the eye and was not discovered until later when he started experiencing pain and blurred vision on the affected eye.

“I was operated and the clot removed, and I am recovering. Next month I will go for another minor surgery as I continue to recover,” said Kamande.

The ever-witty Kamande joked that he is currently operating only one eye like a motorcycle but is hopeful he will achieve full recovery. Fans keen on supporting their music idol can reach him on 0722870700.
