Ready market: Iran to buy all Orthodox tea grown in Othaya

Prominent Othaya lawyer and tea activist Patrick Ngunjiri has brokered a deal that will see Iran buy all the orthodox tea grown in the area.

The good news to Othaya tea farmers were revealed by Dr Jafar Barmaki, the Iranian Ambassador to Kenya during the celebrations to mark the 44th Anniversary of the Iranian Islamic Revolution.

Ngunjiri said Iran is a trusted friend of Othaya Farmers and in June 2022, the ambassador visited both Chinga and Gitugi TFCs.

He said since then, Iranian companies have been buying all Orthodox Teas from the two factories.

Dr Barmaki also visited Othaya Coffe Mills and a number of avocado farms across the constituency.

Ngunjiri said he will continue to pursue cooperation that will be beneficial to farmers.
