Rainy season to prolong for the next one week

By HARRIET MUGO

The rainy season that is currently being witnessed across the country will continue for the next one week.

This is according to a report released today Tuesday by the Weather Forecast department.

Thunderstorms will be witnessed in several parts of the highlands in the west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria area, in the middle and south of the Rift Valley, the highlands in the east of the Rift Valley, the southeast region, the coast and the northeast of the country.

Although the rainy season was expected to increase this month, the amount of rain is still low.

Last week, Kenya witnessed increased rainfall in the western highlands of the Rift Valley and the northeastern region.

However, the Northern Rift Valley, Coastal and northwestern areas remained dry.

Kenya is  relying on short rains in the months of October-November-December in 2022 to control the drought in the country, but that expectation has hit a rock as the rainy season  has failed to rain in several parts of the country as expected.

Millions of Kenyans, especially in dry areas, are facing food shortages due to the lack of rain in the last four seasons.

Rain did not start in October  as expected rather it started in November  and it is low.

The temperature forecast indicates that many parts of the country will witness high temperatures.
