Two people emerge to claim were sired by former President Kibaki, want a share of his estate

By HARRIET MUGO

A man and a woman have emerged to lay claim to a share of the late President Kibaki alleging they were sired by him

They want to have a share of the estate and to be included in the distribution of the wealth.

Jacob Ocholla Mwai and Ms JNL are demanding recognition as family members of former President Mwai Kibaki.

The two; Jacob Ocholla Mwai and a lady known as Ms JNL want the court to recognise them as the children of the former president, and beneficiaries of Kibaki’s multi-billion estates.

However, in his will, Kibaki entrusted his entire estate to his four children and specifically ruled out any of their spouses from benefitting from it.

He directed that his four children ; Judy Wanjiku, Jimmy Kibaki, David Kagai and Anthony Githinji would get equal shares of the estate to be managed by a holding company.

The benefits include assets, cash in the bank, as well as all his personal effects. Ocholla, 62, argues that he is the first born child of the late former President and wants an equal share of the property.

He argued that Kibaki had, initially, acknowledged him as being his biological son.

He is afraid that the Children might proceed with the succession process without involving him and he might be left out of the estate of the deceased despite him being entitled to the share .

Miss JNL also claims claiming that she is Kibaki’s daughter sired in 1961 when the late Head of State cohabited with her mother in the UK.

The two asked the court to order them together with Kibaki’s four children to be subjected to a DNA test to establish whether they are siblings of the same father.

Judith Wanjiku opposed a DNA test proposal to establish whether they are siblings with the two persons since it would violate their privacy and have urged the court to dismiss the request filed by Ocholla and a woman codenamed as Miss JN
