Nine police officers arrested over the dissapearance of two Indians and their taxi driver

Nine police officers drawn from the disbanded Special Services Unit of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have been arrested over extra-judicial executions.

They are accused of being behind the mysterious disappearance of two Indian nationals Zulfiqar Ahmad Khan, Mohamed Zaid Sami Kidwai, and their taxi driver Nicodemus Mwania whose whereabouts remain unknown.

The nine suspects include; Joseph Mwenda Mbaya, David Chepcheng Kipsoi, Stephen Luseno Matunda, Paul Njogu Muriithi, Simon Muhuga Gikonyo, Peter Muthee Gachiku, Francis Muendo Ndonye, John Mwangi Kamau and Joseph Kamau Mbugua.

They are accused of abducting , killing and dumping the bodies of the three victims at Aberdare National Park.

The nine will know their fate on whether they will be admitted to bail or detained for 30 days as sought by the prosecution, on Thursday, November 10.

Kahawa Law Court Chief Magistrate Diana Mochache indicated that she will rule on the miscellaneous application before her next week Thursday.

In the application, the prosecution led by Michael Sang sought to have the 9 detained for 30 days pending investigations entailing DNA sampling and forensic analysis of their gadgets.

The DPP has since intimated the possibility of invoking the principal of superior responsibility where superiors are held criminally responsible for crimes committed by their juniors.
