How a decorated white goat kicked off a cultural storm following the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the ascension of King Charles III

A white he-goat kicked off a cultural storm after it was spotted with soldiers during the proclamation of King Charles as the new King of England following the death of his mother Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II – who was buried on Monday at Windsor.

A Nigerian Twitter user, Chuka Nduneseokwu, posted a thread of tweets claiming that a white ram in the attached photo was for “sacrifice” at the proclamation of Prince Charles as the King of England.

The series of tweets that caused the storm and went viral across Africa and the rest of the world is reproduced below.

“This is the British carrying a white ram (intended for sacrifice) for the crowning and declaration of Prince Charles as King of England.

“This is their ancient tradition and culture (Ọdịnaanị na Omenaanị as we call it). “If this was an African king or chief, our brainwashed Christian brethren will call it idol worship, worshipping Alusi, and paganism.

“These are the same people that brought you the “church” and told you that your ways were evil.

A background check however indicated that the goat is Lance Corporal Shenkin IV, the regimental mascot that accompanied the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Welsh regiment at the proclamation of King Charles III as the new monarch of England.

The African were however not convinced and insisted that the goat was for sacrifice and that it is an age-old tradition practiced by the monarchs.

As it is the tradition and customs of the Royal Family, Prince Charles being the eldest male child of Queen Elizabeth II would immediately be declared king after her death through an elaborate ceremony that happened soon after her death.

His official coronation in grand ceremony would come later but his proclamation as King was immediate to ensure there was no gap and the transition completed.
