Renowned youth mentor and Kenya University Students Organization (KUSO) Patron Agnes Kagure was over the moon after her daughter Grace Kariuki passed her A-Level exams with a distinction.
Kagure who is gunning for the Nairobi County gubernatorial seat said she was a happy parent after her daughter’s emerged among the top A-level achievers at Brookhouse School.
Grace who was a student at the Brookhouse School that offers the British curriculum was among 33 top students who passed their BTEC 3 Extended Diploma (equivalent to 3 A-Level subjects) with a distinction.
The BTEC Extended Diploma is a 2-year vocational Sixth Form course that is the equivalent of three A-level subjects, ideal for students with defined career pathways. BTEC students are admitted to universities around the world.
Celebrating her daughter’s success, Kagure said it is always a parent’s hope that children grow into responsible adults who are respectful, humane, dynamic, and armed with the requisite skills to be the captains of tomorrow’s economies.
“This day, I’m a happy parent because my daughter continues to give me reasons to be proud of the path of excellence she has chosen, and one we wholeheartedly support,’’ said Kagure.
Praising her daughter’s top drawer performance, Kagure noted that, being recognized as a top achiever with distinction scores in all subject areas is no mean feat, and she expressed her hope that the achievement was just the beginning of more accolades to come for her daughter.
Kagure has been running a youth mentor-ship program through her Agnes Kagure Foundation where she has been passionate about youth empowerment especially through education and skills training.
She believes the only way to secure the future of the youth is through empowerment and government support saying Nairobi youth and indeed the Kenyan youth space is full of innovators.
Kagure who is eyeing the Nairobi gubernatorial seat said her administration would put the youth at the center of decision-making processes.
“The future is about them, why leave them out? Let’s build and empower the youth to be makers of the future they desire. Walk with me and let us make it happen,’’ said Kagure.
