Jimmy Wanjigi’s massive campaign across the country draws attention

Businessman Jimmy Wanjigi whirlwind presidential campaign tours across the country have started drawing attention and gaining traction.

What began as small townhall meetings in Murang’a County has turned to be a well oiled campaign machine moving across the country.

Wanjigi who is seeking the presidential ticket through former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has surprised pundits with his resilience and consistency.

He has been to many corners of the country where he is drawing unexpectedly large crowds of followers keen to listen to him.

Though he is not expected to beat Raila in a straight fight for the ODM presidential ticket – Wanjigi is being credited for making ODM palatable in Mt Kenya region where he has been making campaign forays.

“Wanjigi is a suave and fearless deal maker. Though he has been operating on the drawing boards, his emergence has made ODM more acceptable in Central Kenya,” said Mwai Mathenge, a political commentator.

His recent visit to Kajiado this week caught the eye when he was received by hordes of enthusiastic people and where he declared that only ODM had the numbers to deliver the presidency come 2022.

While in Kajiado, Wanjigi said ODM had made the first step towards an economic revolution that they firmly believe will bring the desired change to the country by opening the Jabari Centre at Matasia.
