Nyeri gets a new star-rated ecolodge as tourism picks up

Prominent Nyeri businessman Mathenge Gitonga has opened a new hotel -Greenwood Ecolodge at the scenic Kabiruini forest.

The Green Ecolodge situated on the Nyeri-Mweiga road becomes the latest entrant to the hospitality industry as tourism picks up.

Mathenge a Nairobi-based lawyer said the lodge would offer excellent services and help promote tourism and job creation.

Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga who was the chief guest during the official opening welcomed the new investment saying it would promote the hospitality industry.

“In an effort to promote tourism and hospitality, I joined the family of a businessman Mathenge Gitonga which has opened a new hotel at Kabiru-ini along Nyeri – Mweiga road,” he said.

The Greenwood Ecolodge, Kabiru-ini is situated at the serene environment of Kabiru-ini, outskirts of Nyeri town.

He said his government was keen to promote tourism in Nyeri county through public-private partnerships.

“Through Public – Private partnership, my administration will always remain committed to promoting the tourism industry in Nyeri County,” said Mutahi
