Jubilee bags the Eldas Member of the County Assembly (MCA) seat after UDA chickened out

As all political attention was focused on Kiagu Ward in Meru County, Jubilee Party has already won the Eldas MCA seat in Wajir County.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) confirmed that only Abdi Abass Abdullahi of Jubilee Party returned his nomination papers.

That in effect makes him the MCA-elect for Eldas ward since was not opposed after United Democratic Alliance (UDA) fronted by the DP William Ruto failed to get a candidate to nominate.

Previously the seat was held by an MCA elected on the PDR party ticket that is associated with UDA.

In Kiagu ward, Jubilee candidate is battling it out with 10 other candidates among them UDA’s and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s Chama Cha Kazi.

The Jubilee Party nominated two candidates to fight it out in the Kiagu ward in Meru County and Eldas ward in Wajir County for Member of County Assembly (MCA) seats after a survey indicated good prospects at winning.

The survey done by former Kangema MP Tirus Ngahu showed that the two candidates nominated by the party stood a big chance of winning and convinced the party to go ahead and field them.

The Ngahu survey indicated that Kinyua was the most popular candidate and stood a very high chance of winning the seat.

On his part, Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju reaffirmed that the Party will offer Kinyua the necessary support throughout the campaign and election period.

Yesterday, Ngahu said he was happy Jubilee already one win in the bag and that it will work very hard to win the Kiagu ward that is hotly contested by 11 candidates.
