Bernard Sang won the 7th Edition of the prestigious Metumi Golf Day tournament held at the scenic Thika Greens Golf Resort on Saturday.
Sang playing off handicap 24 scored 45 points to emerge the overall winner beating a field of more than 200 golfers who graced the tournament sponsored by among others the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) with the governor Kamau Thugge scoring an impressive 39 points.

The runners up prize went to Joseph Mbitu with 44 points with a handicap of 23 while the Metumi winner went to F N Thuo playing off handicap 13 and scoring 41 points. F Ng’ang’a was the Metumi runners up with 40 points with a handicap of 13.
Dr A Shitseswa won the member winner man with 44 points playing off handicap 15 and the member winner lady went to former Thika Greens Lady Captain Carol Kibanya with 39 points playing off handicap 16.
Metumi Golf Day tournament was started in 2019 and this was the seventh edition and is steered by passionate golfers from Murang’a County led by former Finance Cabinet Secretary Prof Njuguna Ndungu and chairman of Muungano Micro-Finance Bank and former captain of Thika Greens Golf Club Patrick Karanja.
The tournament has grown from leaps and bounds and has become one of the premier events of the golfing calendar attracting many golfers where this year over 200 golfers participated in.
Among the sponsors of the event were Muungano Micro Finance Bank that recently got a nationwide license to operate across the country.
Another sponsor was Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) that has launched a digital trading application DhowCSD that allows individuals and companies to in government securities, bonds and treasury bills without the need for brokers. The App was an instant hit with many golfers signing up.
