Muturi dares detractors to fire him, says he is not worried about his job

National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has dismissed as baseless rumours that there is a plot to kick him out of his parliamentary office but also dared anyone with such plans to go ahead.

Muturi said he was not worried about his job and that anybody interested to remove him as Speaker was welcome from as early as Monday.

“Those are social media rumours and Iam not worried about it. Anybody interested can bring the motion on Monday. I will sign it right away,” he said in Embu after attending the ACK church, Embu Education Sunday.

Muturi said he would continue with his role to unite the Mt Kenya region and that he would not slow down or back off after he was crowned as the region’s spokesperson.

Ever since his coronation as the Mt Kenya spokesperson at the holy Agikuyu shrine at Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga, Muturi has found himself in the eye of a storm.

His move threw a spanner in the Uhuru succession in Mt Kenya region after he strategically placed himself on the apex of the political game.

Apart from sharply dividing the elders with one group supporting Muturi, the crowning also sucked in Central Kenya governors.

Murang’a governor Mwangi Wa Iria led other central governors in what appeared like an emergency meeting to react and strategise following the move by Muturi.

The governors who attended the meeting were Lee Kinyanjui (Nakuru), Mutahi Kahiga (Nyeri), Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga) and several former MPs.

Muturi’s crowning continues to draw mixed reactions with the latest one being a move by elders to cleanse the Mukurwe shrine at the weekend. The elders also sensationally said they had revoked Muturi’s coronation.

It was after this cleansing ceremony that speculation about the imminent replacement of Muturi started doing rounds on social media pages of individuals associated with the Deputy President.
Muturi has however dismissed the speculation saying he would stand firm.
