Gachagua urges Raila to abandon Ruto and help Kenyans unshackle themselves from his ”reckless” leadership

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has written a warm welcome back home message to ODM leader Raila Odinga following his defeat at the Africa Union Commission chairmanship elections in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Saturday.

Gachagua now wants Raila to abandon his latest benefactor President Ruto and join other progressive forces seeking to put to an end bad leadership.

“Africa needed you most, but God, in His own wisdom, found that Kenya, your motherland, and indeed, we Kenyans, your beloved brothers and sisters, have unfinished business with you as their coveted son as we unshackle our country from recklessness,” Gachagua said.

While Raila followers mourned his loss of despite a spirited campaign, Kenyans especially in Mt Kenya region (the home turf of Gachagua) and the Gen Z celebrated his loss. They are now urging him to come back home and help them fight Ruto.

Gachagua’s statement to Raila

“Baba Raila Odinga, you put on a brave fight, elicited energy, resilience, and the indefatigable Lion of Africa. You came in a credible 2nd as you held the Kenyan Flag high in a hotly contested seat of the AUC Chairmanship.

You did not lose; the majority had their way. The African and the Kenyan spirit lives on. The leap you made motifs the Kenyan optimism and great hope in the continent and the World. In any case, the outcome at the AU doesn’t, in any way, undermine your leadership and your energy to fix our Nation.

Welcome back home, our son Raila Odinga, with your head held high; East or West, home is the best. Take heart, you did Kenya proud.”

Before the elections Gachagua had sent a goodwill message to Raila describing him as the most qualified for the job and wishing him success.
