Home club Captain Henry Kinyua wins the 10th edition of CEO’s golf tournament at the Thika Greens Golf Resort

Thika Greens Golf Club captain Henry Kinyua beat a large field of 200 golfers to win the 10th Edition of the CEO’s golf tournament at his home club on Saturday.

Kinyua playing off handicap 15 returned a score of 44 points to emerge the overall winner of the tournament that attracted golfers from across the country to the scenic golf resort near Thika town.

The tournament is held every year in July to mark the birthday of the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Thika Greens Golf Resort Charles Kibiru who turned 60 this year – hence the name CEO’s Golf Tournament.

Geoffrey Kiiru emerged as the gross winner with 71 points and John Nguitui was the member winner with 41 points while vice-captain H Hassan was the member runners up with 39 points.

Jackline Sirai playing off handicap 16 scored 38 points to emerge the member winner lady while the runners up member lady winner was Lucy Ngugi with 38 points. Kimani Karanja with a score of 40 points was the guest winner man while Stella Mwende was the guest winner lady with 40 points.

Kibiru said he was happy to see how the event had grown to become a major tournament in Kenya’s golf calendar recalling the journey that started off as a dream in 2008, when he thought of starting Thika Greens Golf Resort.
