The family of the late Nairobi tycoon Gerishon Kirima has won big after a court restored over 1000 acres of grabbed land in Njiru to them.
And the court has ordered thousands of developers and squatters currently occupying the land to vacate by December 31, 2023.
The Environment and Land Court declared the land located in Njiru belongs to the Kirima family and all illegal settlers given up to December 31, 2023, to vacate or be forcelly evicted.
Judge Samson Okong’o dismissed a claim by squatters who said they had lived on the land uninterrupted for more than 12 years.
Three groups of squatters had earlier claimed the land and stated that they were entitled to the parcel through adverse possession.
But in a swift change of heart the squatters some who have already put up multimillion houses and flats have urged the family not to evict them saying they are ready to buy the plots they are sitting on.
They said it is now clear that they were conned and have agreed with the judge that the land belongs to the late business tycoon and politician who died in 2010.
