Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua prays facing Mt Kenya at the crack of dawn

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has this morning at the crack of dawn visited the Agikuyu shrine and prayed facing Mt Kenya.

Mt Kenya or “Kirinyaga” is a reveered mountain by the Agikuyu community who believe their God (Mwene Nyaga) lives there and therefore pray facing it.

Gachagua said he woke up early in the morning at 4am to make a nostalgic journey to The Mountain.

He said the one hour trek that included crossing River Rikkia reminded him of the great struggle for our freedom .

The DP said he took time to thank God for his mercy and kindness to the people of Kenya and for giving them the freedom we are now enjoying.

“While facing Mount Kenya, I prayed to ‘Mwene Nyaga’ to give good health and wisdom to our Great Leader President William Samoei Ruto as he embarks on the economic transformation of our nation and the restoration of the dignity of the Kenyan people,” he said.

Gachagua said the mountain is calm, steady and stoic and it is good.
