DP Gachagua says late Matu Wamae was a great industrialist who revived to profits a dead dairy industry

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has paid glowing tribute to his predecessor in Mathira the late Matu Wamae saying his contribution to industry was huge.

Gachagua said Wamae who died early this week served as Mathira MP for a record 15 years.

However it was his revival of a dead Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC) into a vibrant industry that won him the hearts of Kenyans.

Gachagua said it was his leadership prowess that lead to his success in reviving KCC.

“It is his leadership prowess and meticulousness in reviving the dead Kenya Cooperatives Creameries (KCC) into a vibrant, profit-making KCC that booked him a place in the history of industry in Kenya,” said Gachagua.

Gachagua said Wamae will be remembered as the Executive Director of ICDC in the Sixties and Seventies, where he oversaw the transfer of entrepreneurship from white colonialists to indigenous Kenyans.

“May the good Lord give comfort to his family as they prepare to lay to rest Mathira’s finest and one of the greatest industrialists of our time,” said Gachagua.
