Fifteen schools fail to pick National exams in Bungoma County

By HARRIET MUGO

Fifteen schools in Bungoma have failed to pick national exam papers in Bungoma county as KCPE and KPSEA started today across the country.

According to Bungoma South DCC Duncan Okwach, the 15 schools that failed to pick exams are private schools that were closed by the Ministry of Education for not complying with Ministry’s requirements.

Okwach is the acting Bungoma County commissioner because the county doesn’t have a County Commissioner yet.

He said Bungoma has 1,007 KEPSEA and 951 KCPE examination centres adding he was happy that the exams started on a high notch, and they have not experienced any challenges. He said police officers are well deployed at the centres to offer security across the county.

Okwach commended secondary schools for cooperating well with primary schools and availing their buses to help in transportation of exams in the school.

However, Bungoma County director of education Phillip Chirchir has said that he is still doing follow up to identify what happened with the schools that failed to pick exams.
