Kenya Airways pilots to go on strike on Saturday after payment talks collapse

Kenya Airways pilots will go on strike from Saturday after labour dispute talks collapsed.

The strike was called through their association the Kenya Airline Pilots Association (KALPA).

The general secretary Captain Murithi Nyaga said KALPA members will not operate any flight from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport starting at 6am tomorrow morning.

“On the 19th of October 2022, if this gave a 14-day notice to the management of the Kenya Airways organization, as the last step in efforts to find a better working environment, and to ensure that the Kenya Airways organization is well managed.”

“The period of the strike notice has ended and now we have the right to keep our equipment under section 41, chapter four of the constitution,” said Nyaga.

This comes after the association issued a strike notice on the 9th of October this year to the management Kenya Airways in relation to the demands that have not been met.

Captain Nyaga added that this move aims to improve the working environment for its members.
