United Kingdom awards 37 Kenyans scholarships to study in prestigious universities

Under the Chevening Scholarships program, the United Kingdom has awarded 37 Kenyans fully funded scholarships to study in the European country.

The announcement was made by the UK High Commissioner to Kenya Ms Jane Marriot in a ceremony where the 37 Kenyans received the awards.

She said the number of applications was an increase by 31 per cent from the previous year which was attributed to the great talents that Kenya has to offer.

“A total of 2,929 applications were submitted last year – an increase of 31 per cent from the previous year – a great reminder, yet again, of the fantastic talent that Kenya has to offer.

She said UK was proud to partner with Kenya on different aspects of education.

“Through the Chevening Awards Scholarship programme, we aim to build a community of people committed to driving positive change in their home countries and across the world,” she said.
