Kieni MP Kanini Keega blasts DP Ruto for leading a battalion of MPs to insult President Uhuru in Gatundu

Kieni MP Kanini Keega has criticised Deputy President for leading the Kenya Kwanza battalion to go and insult President Uhuru Kenyatta in his backyard in Kiambu County.

Speaking at AIPCA Endarasha in Kieni Constituency during the Church service, Kanini said the move by the DP to lead the leaders allied to him to insult the president in his region demonstrates a high level of disrespect to the president.

Kanini said the team is insulting the president for his political stand to support Raila Odinga in his presidential bid, noting that the president has a right to support any leader he desires.

“The president must be respected, it is very unfortunate that the Dp can lead a battalion of leaders who come to the president’s neighbourhood just to hurl insults to him just because he has expressed his wish and preference. The president has a right to use his one vote to choose which leader he wants to succeed him and that must be respected.” Kanini said.

He criticized Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria following his utterances during the Kenya Kwanza Rally in Gatundu last week which he said are equivalent to spreading hatred and profiling communities, noting that the utterances were personal utterances and not the stand of the Kikuyu community.

He warned the DP against using leaders to demean and humiliate the president.

“Nobody comes to your compound to insult you. Why would you find it fit to lead that battalion to come and insult the president, demean the president and at the same time you are seeking votes from us. You might come with goons and the cheerleaders who were with on that day but it will not intimidate the sombre Kikuyu voter, sombre Kenyan voter to vote for you.” He said.

He cautioned leaders against making comments that would precipitate a repeat of violence that was witnessed in 2007 noting that they will not clear leaders who will be associated with acts of violence.

He called on security agencies to be on the lookout for the leaders who are intimidating people so as to join particular political outfits.
