Kagure pays tribute to famous politician Orie Rogo Manduli, says she has left behind a rich legacy

Prominent Nairobi business lady and mentor Agnes Kagure has paid a glowing tribute to renowned politician, flamboyant fashionista and activist Orie Rogo Manduli who passed away on Wednesday aged 73.

Kagure who is eyeing the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2022 said Manduli had left a rich legacy of boldness, African pride and authenticity.

Kagure said Manduli lived her life to the fullest and was never afraid of being wrong – something that speaks so much to young women,

“Orie Rogo Manduli’s life left an imprint of boldness, African pride and authenticity, and never being afraid of being wrong. Hers was a life well-lived and one that speaks so much to young women. May she rest well,’’ said Kagure.

Manduli’s profile is that of a woman of many firsts and a trailblazer who fought tirelessly for women empowerment, a fashion icon, a bold leader and a mentor.

At the age of 16 and while still at the Secondary School she participated and won Miss Kenya beauty pageant an would later on in 1974 made another remarkable entry in her story when she became the first African woman to take part in the Safari Rally.

Manduli embraced the African dress and would always be dressed in flashy African wear and her signature head gear became part and parcel of her image and brand.

She never shied away and always spoke her mind and was never afraid of drama.
