Repentant DP Gachagua now says it was a big mistake to spread hate against President Uhuru

Deputy President denounced the hustler narrative saying it was a trick to drive a wedge between the rich and the poor in Mt Kenya region for political reasons and hatred. He said rich people are very important in society and told Mt Kenya people to love each whether rich or poor.

Crestfallen Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua now says Mt Kenya region was misled to hate former President Uhuru – a thing he deeply regrets.

Speaking at Kimende in Kiambu County, Gachagua who is fighting a big political war of survival – said it is for that reason that he apologized to the former president.

He said it was wrong for the region to blindly hate and insult former President Uhuru, saying it was only in Mt Kenya where such hatred on leaders was spread.

The DP said he will never again allow politics of hate in Mt Kenya region saying they have learnt a bitter lesson, where hatred is only spread in the region by outside forces and which now threatens to marginalize the area.

“We were tricked into hating Uhuru Kenyatta (former President). I apologised to him and the Mt Kenya people. Have also forgiven me. Never again shall we be used to insult or hate our Kikuyu leaders. Never again shall we be tricked to hate the rich/dynasties. Our youths should not be used to hate our leaders,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua’s statement comes at a time when he appeared besieged with reports of a fall out with his boss President William Ruto.

Of late the two appear to be reading from different scripts with a sharp divide on emerging in the issue of the one-man-one-vote-one shilling revenue sharing formula.

While Gachagua is supporting the one-man-one-vote-one shilling equality formula, President Ruto has openly opposed it. The move by Gachagua to apologize and seek forgiveness from retired President Uhuru is also said to have driven a wedge between the two.

Gachagua is also angered by leaders he described as close to Ruto who he accused of being used to cause divisions in Mt Kenya region.

At Kimende he was joined by Nyandarua Senator John Methu, Woman MP Faith Gitau, Mburu Kahangara (Lari), Patrick Kwenya (Kinangop), Members of Parliament Jayne Kihara (Naivasha), Onesmus Ngogoyo (Kajiado North), Njuguna Kiaraho (Ol-Kalou), Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, George Gachagua (Ndaragwa) and Samuel Parashina (Kajiado South), Members of County Assembly led by the Speaker Wachira Waiganjo, Magumu Ward MCA Hussein Ndung’u, Stephen Muriithi (Nominated), among other leaders were present.
