Leading Nyeri hotel – Misty Mountain Lodge – starts a project to support local artists

Misty Mountain Lodge – a leading hotel in Naromoru Nyeri – has started a project to support Kenyan artists who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In line with the Ministry of Health Covid-119 protocols the hotel is organizing performances by artists in a strategy to support them and also to revive the hospitality industry that is recovering from a big slump.

Hotel’s director Mr Gichuki King’ara said Covid-19 pandemic has severely affected the musicians and performing artists and there is need to find innovative and safe ways of promoting them.

He said there is also a need to keep hotels afloat while ensuring all health protocols are strictly followed to ensure that spread of Covid-19 is stopped.

King’ara said the hospitality industry has been badly hit by the pandemic but said that Kenyans are now learning how to live with the disease and there are signs that the economy is recovering.

He thanked the government’s effort in containing the pandemic and was particularly happy with President Uhuru’s plan to vaccinate all Kenyan adults by December 2022.

“The President’s announcement that the government plans to vaccinate all adults by the end of next year is extremely timely and should be supported by all Kenyans,’’ said King’ara.

He said as a hotel they have already hosted Sir Elvis who performed at the facility three weeks ago and are now going to host Mugithi Maestro Samidoh.

“Our plan is to host at least one artist every month. This way we support the artists and also the hotel and above all support the economic recovery of the hospitality industry and the country,’’ said King’ara.

At the same time Kingar’a thanked the President for the dualling of the Kenol-Makutano-Marua road saying investors from Mt Kenya region had asked the President to expand the road and the work is currently ongoing.

“As an investor in Mt Kenya Iam personally happy with the President for dualling the road. It will not only open up the Mt Kenya tourism circuit, it will also spur economic growth. This is a major legacy for the President,’’ said King’ara.

Misty Mountain Lodge, is located in Naromoru, Nyeri County and is the gateway to Mt Kenya offering scenic views of Kenya’s tallest mountain.

Described as an eco-lodge where all the food eaten there is organically grown on the hotel’s large farm. It offers.
