Karatina crowd demands MP Kanini Kega to address send him to bring Raila to Mathira

There was drama at Karatina stadium, Nyeri County this afternoon after a crowd demanded to be addressed by Kieni MP Kanini Kega.

The crowd also sent Kega who is also the chair of the budget committee to bring the Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga to Mathira.

Kega had joined Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya for a coffee farmers’ meeting when the drama unfold.

During the event Munya launched the Coffee farm inputs stimulus package E-subsidy programme.

The programme is aimed at promoting sustainable increase in income among the Coffee growers through improved productivity.

On implementation of the program it will boost national average coffee production from 2kgs per tree to 5kgs, increase coffee growers gross earning per year by 50% and improve quality of coffee premium grades produced from current 70%  to 90% by 2024.

This stimulus programme targets 82,650 farmers in the 32 coffee growing counties both smallholder coffee farmer belonging to a cooperative society and small estate coffee farmers or any other farmer belonging to an association holding less than 20 acres of land under coffee.
