Former Kieni MP Kanini Kega praises DP Rigathi Gachagua, says Mt Kenya should unite around him

Newly elected East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Kanini Kega has praised Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for supporting his bid and ensuring he went through.

The former Kieni MP said DP Gachagua demonstrated great leadership and fore sight and urged all leaders from Mt Kenya to unite around him.

He noted that DP Gachagua was the senior most leader in Mt Kenya region and he deserves all the support from the region.

“I want to say that the action that happened in Parliament (during EALA elections) it will unite the mountain and we shall be speaking in one voice. DP Rigathi did very well for uniting us. He is the senior most leader in our region. We should rally behind him,” Kega said.

DP Gachagua was credited for the win of Kega after he led a defiance of his UDA party parliamentary group that had left Mt Kenya region without a representative to EALA.

The issue annoyed UDA MPs from Mt Kenya region who decided to rally behind Kega who was the Jubilee Party nominee under the leadership of DP Gachagua.

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga while supporting the election of Kega warned President Ruto against ignoring the region saying they can easily walk out of UDA.

“You have not married us to do what you want. We agreed to work together with mutual respect. We can walk out if we are not needed,” said Kahiga.
