Cries of Betrayal As Ndindi Nyoro is kicked out of a Powerful Parliamentary Committee

A died hard supporter of President Ruto and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has been kicked out of a lucrative and powerful Parliamentary committee amid cries of betrayal from his supporters.

In a major turn of political fortunes Nyoro who was a key pillar of Ruto ahead of the 2022 general elections in Mt Kenyan and who was touted as a possible running mate in 2027 has found himself thrown out of the inner circles of power.

His supporters and constituents immediately read malice and accused President Ruto of orchestrating yet another brutal betrayal in view of the key role Nyoro did to campaign for Ruto’s election.

They claimed Ruto has now perfected the use and dump strategy saying Nyoro worked very hard for Ruto to be elected and kicking him out was a painful betrayal.

Nyoro lost his seat as chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee in a reconstitution of parliamentary committees led by National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro.

Several allies of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, including MPs Wanjiku Muhia, James Gakuya, and Onesmus Ngogoyo, have also lost their committee roles.

Osoro stated that regional balance, gender considerations, political affiliations and negotiations informed the new committee appointments, with members expected to elect their chairpersons within seven days.

Nyoro becomes the latest victim of the entry of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in government under the broad-based arrangement as Ruto moves to create space for his new allies.

More heads from Mt Kenya region are expected to roll with reports that Raila has negotiated more positions both in the Executive and Parliament as a prerequisite for his continued support of President Ruto’s embattled government.

ODM members are arguing that Parliamentary seats and Cabinet Secretary positions held by individuals from Mt Kenya region needs to be trimmed to a minimum claiming that the region has abandoned government and joined former DP Rigathi Gachagua in the opposition.

The push to have more ODM members in government escalated after Raila failed to win the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship with Ruto expected to create space for them under the new power sharing deal that was signed at State House Mombasa upon Raila’s return from Ethiopia.
